Inflatable Bunny

Intrude

The “Intrude” exhibit created by Australian artist Amanda Parer features inflatable bunnies, the largest, which is the focal point of this painting, is the “Mama” or “Bunzilla.” This approachable and whimsical inflatable from down under was a highlight Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Highmark First Night Pittsburgh and was on display in the Cultural District from December 31, 2021 to January 28, 2022.

The Parer Studio created them as an opportunity to juxtapose the rabbit’s fairytale-like innocence with the great destruction and imbalance they are causing in Australia.. While the rabbits are cute, Parer says there’s a deeper meaning behind her work than just a great photo op.
